My husband, Alan and I are in our 12th year of retirement. He had worked for IBM in Bethesda, MD and I had worked for Lockheed Martin, also in Bethesda.
We're still living in Eastern North Carolina in a place called New Bern. It is surrounded by water, being at the confluence of two rivers and only a half hour from the ocean.
We love living here. When we're not traveling, I volunteer daily in a local elementary school.
We have seven grandchildren. The oldest is almost 13 and the youngest is 2.
Our favorite country we've visited is Italy. We were there a year ago and hope to return.
I spoke to Alphonse Liquori, my 10th grade social studies teacher last summer. He has been retired for a long time and seemed happy to hear from a student from so long ago.
When I visit my daughter's home on Long Beach Island in NJ, I usually run into another GNHS grad, from the class of '72. We wear orange and blue, sing the songs and remember GNHS fondly.
I'm looking forward to seeing my classmates soon.
