Where Am I ?
Three and a half years ago, my wife and I moved to an idyllic town called Old Lyme, Connecticut. Here we live on more than four acres alongside a river to our west, the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts to the north, and a historic house and horse farm to the south. Next to our house is a barn and a large studio, which I designed and built.
What Am I Doing ?
Since moving here from Newton, Massachusetts, we have landscaped our grounds and created a sculpture park to go with my studio. I spend my days working on my sculpture, enjoying the river and countryside, and seeing family and friends. I have found a little time to participate in the life of this small yet sophisticated artistic community. There has been less time to think about what was or could have been.
What About My Family?
All seems to be well. My wife of 42 years, Emily, has successfully made the transition from medical editing to retirement. Our older son, Alex, is a neurologist practicing at Montefiore Hospital in New York. He is married to a novelist, Elizabeth Gaffney, and has a two-year-old daughter. Our younger son, Jason, has a masters in linguistics andis a practicing attorney In Boston.
What Else Keeps Me Occupied?
We have a granddaughter and three cats. I manage to run fast enough to avoid thinking about anything other than the immediate future, my family and my work as a sculptor.
My Message to the Class of '57
I'm not smart enough or wise enough to give advice to my classmates. I look forward to seeing all of you at the reunion. |
