Bill Tucker

1957 – High School Graduation

1964 – In  Korea, protecting the United States from invasion

1966 – With Willie Mosconi after a national tournament in which my misspent youth proved useful

1967 – College graduation (at long last)

1977 – With a close friend; I’m the one on the right

1988 – In Rome, where they apparently knew I was coming and arranged this announcement of my visit

1989 – In Rothenburg ob der Tauber, where the local beer – Tucher” – is named after me

1992 – In Florence with my son, improving on the design of the fountain in the Palazzo Vecchio

1993 – As this photo of my wife Monica indicates, I married into royalty

1998 – My wife and I make the cover of Time

2002 – Trying to appear professorial

At 67, I still play basketball with the undergraduates; sometimes they even let me touch the ball. In a 3 on 3 game, I am invariably older than the three players on the other team put together. My goal in life is to last until I can say the same thing about a 4 on 4. No doubt that’s an unrealistic objective, but as I first learned in Miss O’Connnor’s class, “a man’s reach should exceed his grasp or what’s a heaven for?”
